Currently there are hundreds of Line Array systems on the market but only companies that have a high level of technological know-how have Line Array systems that meet the physical operational principles.

The Line Array concept depends on physical parameters based on wavelengths, source size, areas of radiation and relative separation between sound focal points.

a) The separation between the individual acoustic sources must be less than half the wavelength within the bandwidth of operation.

b) The wave fronts generated by individual sources must be flat, and the area of radiation from all of them must represent at least 80% of the total area of radiation.

c) Control of the deviation of the front wave. This is achieved with a good design of the waveguide coupled to high-frequency compression driver, a principle that few comply with.

Certainly, there are many more parameters to be observed, but the three basics listed above are the most important characteristics for a truly functional line array speaker system.

In addition to fulfilling these basic requirements, there are two Master Audio line array systems that present another interesting feature: They are completely autonomous with internal Class D amplification and DSP in each unit. All drivers have neodymium magnets for maximum performance and low weight. Multiple electronic protection systems ensure that overload is almost impossible.

The advanced DSP, which is a proprietary Master Audio design, provides full control of signal processing parameters in EQ, delay, limit, gain and preset memorization as presets, either in individual units, by groups or for all systems in total. The DSP also includes software for the acoustic design (mapping) of public space in vertical coverage and SPL. The DSP can be programmed either directly on each unit or by remote PC via RJ-45.
